Special Notice for Summer Sizzler!!!
The Elite Series has not sat by and not tried to constantly make improvements as you the racer, and we the organization find flaws.
The latest HOT topic in all of Series racing seems to be the obvious new driving tactic of blocking at key events. Though this is certainly not a new thing, it has certainly raised its head more in the past several months.
Now some will have arguments on both sides of the coin, and this is understood, but the Series is making a hard stand on this subject, along with the taking out of racers in recent races in the State Series.
Starting at the Summer Sizzler at Selinsgrove Raceway Park, we will be enforcing a rule that's already on the books. You can go to www.elitedirtkart.com and freely read our rules anytime, we strongly encourage this. Blocking is considered in our rules as un-sportsman like driving. This will be a non-droppable offense, or in the pro class, an instant DQ if your declared blocking.
The Series definition of said blocking infraction is as follows: A driver/participant knowingly changes or alters their driving line to purposely hinder the advancement of other drivers/ participants in said race to gain a competitive advantage.
The Series will closely monitor the race. If the Race Director deems an infraction of said rules is taking place, he will instruct the Head flagman to give the driver/participant the rolled black flag, as our only warning to said driver/participant. The said driver will have till they get back around to the start finish line to correct their driving style. If the Race Director deems the infraction is continuing, the driver will be waved the open black flag and immediately taken off the scoring loop. The driver will immediately leave the track in a safe manner as to not impede the outcome of said race. They will only be DQ'ed for that race and allowed to participate in other races for that day.
Un-sportsman like conduct activities are non-droppable offenses.
The Series is fully aware that the start of any race,(up to 2 completed scored laps) and the last two laps of any race, protecting your position is acceptable performance, but will be closely monitoring any racers who deliberately takes out another competitor, or dramatically alters the outcome of any race by their actions.
We also understand this is a judgmental call and take this call very serious.
Un-sportsmanlike conduct offenses cannot be protested and are final.
We in the Elite series are taking a hard line on this entire issue. We have received many complaints about these two issues from many veterans of the sport. Some of the big names in karting do not like this style of driving and ask us to lead the charge in making a change.
The Elite Series appreciates the trust and confidence our racers have in the State Series, but more importantly appreciate the drivers wanting the series to try and fix the problem.
Thanks and look forward to seeing everyone at the Summer Sizzler this weekend at Selinsgrove Raceway Park.
